Beauty and the Beast REVIEW

Orpheum Theatre - March 10-15

March 11, 2015
Through the years, Disney features have become my favorite in live theater. I was so excited to learn that Beauty and the Beast was coming to the Orpheum this year. Just seeing the little girls so excited and wearing their Belle dresses made my heart melt. Of course, the performance itself was so amazing, as well. My "little girl" is now 18 years old, but still a kid at heart (as am I). She was just as excited to see Beauty and the Beast as she would have been at age 7. We both love musicals and Broadway shows, so this was a treat!

The entire cast did a fabulous job. The actors all fit their parts so well. Jillian Butterfield as Belle was amazing and a favorite. She had an amazing voice and did such a great job relating the musical to the movie. Ryan Everett Wood did a phenomenal job as the Beast, also. A tough, tough role to play, it was like 2nd nature to him. He played the part and executed it flawlessly. Another favorite of ours was Patrick Pevehouse as Lumiere. He brought his role as a candlestick to life (literally). He was funny and smart and his lines were perfect!

The writers did a great job of keeping it true to the Disney story, but adding some great extras! Our favorite scene, of course, was "Be Our Guest"! It was truly so hard NOT to sing along. My daughter kept giving me "the look". I may have embarrassed her a bit. The colors and fanfare were over the top and amazing. I loved every part of it.
