Rescuing a dog from a shelter through fostering or adopting is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. By opening your heart and home, you give a dog a second chance at life. In return, these dogs offer unconditional love and loyalty.
One local rescue, No Dog Left Behind (NDLB) in Maple Grove, has been giving dogs a second chance since 2012. NDLB is a foster-based rescue that has helped over 7,800 dogs since its inception and an incredible 750 dogs in 2024 alone. These are truly astonishing numbers, and the organization is deeply grateful for its dedicated volunteers and community members who have opened their hearts and homes to dogs in need.
What is a foster-based rescue?
Being foster-based means all of the dogs in the rescue are cared for in foster homes rather than in a shelter facility. Dogs are placed with fosters, where they flourish under love, care, and attention before finding their forever families. This is where their journey begins.
Dogs come from various locations across the United States, each with unique backgrounds and experiences. Upon arrival, they are carefully assessed by NDLB’s vetting coordinator to ensure their health and well-being. The rescue works closely with dedicated fosters, who pick up the dogs along with any necessary supplies and schedule veterinary appointments at contracted clinics.
Most pups only need one visit to receive essential care, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping—preparing them for their new lives. In rare cases where extra medical attention is needed, NDLB ensures specialized care is provided. All veterinary records are shared with adopters, ensuring transparency and peace of mind. Every step of the process is fueled by love and dedication, giving these dogs the best possible start in their new lives.
NDLB relies on its volunteers and community members like you to continue its mission. They also host engaging, community-focused events to raise awareness and foster involvement. To kick off the new year, NDLB will be hosting puppy yoga! All abilities are welcome, and children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
